Not Enough AI
A customer asked me today about ANPR cameras that can also register the vehicle’s speed. He owns a small area containing a few small industrial units and the road in front. The road is a private road, but does provide access to several other businesses further along.
He has been told by his insurance company that he is now responsible for enforcing a 5mph speed limit along this private road he owns, but must allow other business traffic access to, or his premiums will go up by a huge amount. This is unusual because no-one has ever had an insurance company try to bleed them for additional money before.
I did a small amount of research and it seems that the company MAV are the main supplier of such cameras. Their MAV Mobile range is described on their very cyberpunk looking WordPress website as being powered by “FlexiAI ANPR software and NVIDIA Jetson AI”.
Two AIs. Is that all? Only two? Do they not know it is the Current Year? What are they… fucking cavemen?
