Zanny Minton Beddoes is the Editor-in-Chief of The Economist. She is supposedly super-smart. She understands economics we are led to believe. She previously worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and also as an adviser to the Minister of Finance in Poland, amongst other high-profile jobs in economics. Zanny knows stuff, right?
She recently interviewed the world’s favourite benefit scrounger Elon Musk. Musk said many things in this interview, one of them being “If the difference in intelligence between AI and humans is vastly greater than the difference between intelligence between AI and chimpanzees, it’s hard to imagine the chimpanzees would be in charge”.
Zanny, who is super-smart as we know, responded to that utterly ludicrous statement with awe, proclaiming “I’m really struck by this”.
Musk follows that up by declaring that humans are just slightly advanced chimpanzees because they still eat bananas.
Zero pushback from super-smart Zanny though. Just amazement at the faux-profundity of Musk, the intellectual equivalent of a bucket of dogshit.
Having these “experts” and “geniuses” in charge of everything and directing our futures is such a great idea.
